Take this system example I have attached here that focuses on “synthetic fibers in the apparel industry” as an example. I have laid out a broad overview of the entire system, each component could be broken down into infinite parts. I have not listed the stakeholders or boundaries on this particular map as I wanted to show how expansive and broad a system could be. Examples of stakeholders in this example could be: brands, manufacturers, or consumers and a boundary could be drawn around the manufacturing system or post-manufacturing once a product is in the hands of the consumer to narrow the focus of the map. Systems maps are excellent tools that can help leaders and organizations identify the best path forward for an overarching change.
